Breaking walls by building bricks

Michael Rawat, a physics/math student at William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri, has received a Journey Grant and a Hall Grant from his university to study the effects of adobe compressed bricks in Eagle Pass, both the characteristics of the brick and its community value. Michael, originally from the United Kingdom, was at San Lucas for a few weeks this summer perfecting the brick-making machine that he built and inviting others to learn and build together. We plan to use the bricks for various projects around the San Lucas church campus, including beds for our garden and a new mailbox to replace the one that was recently knocked down by a car. He will leave the machine at San Lucas so that it will be available to the wider Eagle Pass community for various projects.
